Authentication
Send a dashboard API key as a Bearer token. Each key carries scopes.
Create a key in the dashboard under Settings → API keys and send it as a Bearer token:
curl https://api.datafuel.ai/api/v1/account \
--header 'Authorization: Bearer df_live_your_key_here'
⟧ Scopes
Each key has scopes, and every operation names the scope it needs (api.residential.read, api.static.purchase, …). Give a key only the scopes it uses. A key without the needed scope answers 403 with the missing scope in meta.required. A missing, expired or revoked key answers 401. See Errors & limits for every error code.
Keep it server-side
Dashboard keys can place paid orders. Keep them in your backend; never ship one in a web page or an app your users run. The Try it forms in this reference are the exception: they send the key you type from your own browser straight to the API, and ask you to confirm anything that is not a read, because it runs on your real account.
Other keys
- The Scraping API uses your scraping key,
df_key_…. - Proxies use the username and password of each proxy plan.
